At Abang Yoli, our Korean fried chicken isn’t just about the crunch—it’s about the sauce. From our humble beginnings in 2021 with just two options, our sauce selection has evolved, each uniquely enhancing the irresistible charm of our twice-fried chicken. Here’s a dive into our flavorful journey, spotlighting our key sauces that make us a standout Korean restaurant in the Twin Cities.

The Originals: Gochujang and Sesame Ginger Garlic

 We launched with two foundational sauces. First, our Gochujang Sauce, crafted from specially sourced, gluten-free fermented Korean chili paste. Simmered with garlic, ginger, sweet stock, and Korean chili flakes, this sauce delivers a vibrant, mildly spicy kick, embodying the fermented essence vital in Korean cuisine.
Our second original, the Sesame Ginger Garlic Sauce, layers ginger, garlic, lemongrass, galangal, and mustard. Emulsified with sesame and mayonnaise, this deeply aromatic sauce complements the twice-fried texture of our Korean chicken, making it a favorite among our Minnesota patrons.

Expanding Flavors: Chili Crunch and Asian Mayo

As our menu expanded, so did our sauce options. The Chili Crunch came next, originally paired with our charred cauliflower but now a beloved addition to our chicken. Featuring toasted fried peppers, crispy shallots, Szechuan pepper, star anise, and garlic, this sauce is a texture-rich favorite, offering a complex tingle of sweetness and spice.
The Asian Mayo, initially served with our Asian fries, has become a silky, smooth sensation. Enhanced with sesame, it’s now available to add a creamy touch to any dish at any time.

The Latest: Garlic Nori Ranch and Habanero Hot

Continuing our innovation, we introduced two new contrasting sauces. The Habanero Hot Sauce, created for those craving an extra kick, blends habanero peppers, ginger, carrots, palm sugar, juice, and vinegar, offering an explosive taste experience. For a cooling balance, our Garlic Nori Ranch, made with cilantro, mint, buttermilk, sour cream, and powdered nori, provides a creamy antidote to the Habanero’s heat.
